Hi Ron,

My name is Elizabeth and I saw your notice about old pictures of the Ryderwood area. Am currently working on a history book for Vader's 100th Centennial and looking for pictures and stories of the area.

I recently heard there was a small community just outside of Ryderwood called Johnsville? It was established mainly because no taverns, saloons, or bars were allowed in the Long Bell Company Town, thus Johnsville supported a Tavern. Do you have any verification of this? Also, do you have any pictures of Vader?

Hope you'll contact me soon, the book must be completed by the end of May.

Thank you, Elizabeth

I have many fond memories of Ryderwood. My father worked for Long Bell lumber Co. He ran a steam Pile Driver building railroad bridges. We moved to Ryderwood around 1934 and moved in 1944. I started the 1st grade at the Ryderwood School. My sister, Maxine Patchen was a little older than I. She graduated from the Ryderwood School. We lived at 510 Jackson Street. The house is still there, or at least was several years ago.

More later if anyone interested.

Well it was interesting to find Ryderwood as a Ghost town since I've lived here the last 10 years.. there are 323 lots here. Many of the homes in town like mine were built in 1923 during the logging days as company owned housing for the loggers. It's the talk of the news these days, the town is bing sued for many things. check out my site www.RyderwoodRumors.com (http://www.RyderwoodRumors.com)
