: Hi, I own and live on the Mariposa Mine. It's in south Brewster County, Texas. In 1898 the Marfa/Mariposa Mining Company started mining Mercury. The town was called Terlingua. About 1907 the town of Terlingua moved to the Chiso Mining Company about 7 miles East. Mariposa mine is whats left now. There is a cemetary with about 22 graves in it.
