My brother and I have looked for Vipond, Montana a couple of times without success. Anyone have some specific information about its location and how to get to it?
Thanks!

To find Vipond, start at Dewey on the Big Hole River. About half a mile west a gravel road heads south up into the Pioneer Mountains towards the Quartz Hill Mining District and the remains of Ponsonby. After that it gets a little complicated as there are numerous trails to follow and a large scale map is advisable. South of Quartz Hill is Vipond Park, a high mountain plateau, which by now should be under a few feet of snow. But about three / four miles south is the remains of Vipond - one delapitated cabin shell. The Old Faithful and Queen of the Hills mines are in the vicinity. If you continue south, taking the track to the left, you'll come to a spectacular site, where as you approach, it looks as if you will drive off the cliff, but at the edge the dirt road cuts to the right and goes down the side of the mountain to Canyon Creek, the charcoal supply center for the smelters that used to be at Glendale, on your way to Melrose.
