Several years ago (5) a budy and I were out poking around at Kokoweef. There were a number of trailers and buildings and such, but no humans. We got back in the Subaru XT (with fwd, a low range tranny, and a lift) when the proprietor showed up. He need us to help unload an ATV from the back of his pick-up. He next tried to talk us into buying some stock. $300 and you got a share of stock, a ticket to the company picnic, tour of the excavation, and any rewards when they hit that river of gold. We declined but were given permission to pick up some cave onyx (stalagmites and stalagtites, etc.) from several of the mine dumps. The Kokoweef legend is still one of the best of the west. NJ
