I am looking for information on a Ghost town in Missouri. The towns name is Oskaloosa. The town was last heard of to be in the south western corner close to the Kansas border. The purpose of my search is I am a member of a brickcollecting association based in the United States and as new members join they usually have questions as to the origin of a certain brick.
This information will be archived on Yahoo as I have 3 brickcollecting sites on this website and this company has been hidding very well. All the information that I have to date is the name of the company was and or is Venetian Brick Co. based in Oskaloosa,Mo.

Any information will be helpful as I have writtten several letters to historical societys, college libraries, and Chambers of Commerce, all to no avail. Thanks in advance for your help. Chris

Try googling "1895 U. S. Atlas" and check Barton County, Mo. Then try www.topozone.com (http://www.topozone.com) and look at 37-38-21, 94-35-32 for the lat/long. Now you at least know where it is. OJ

OJThanks for the help. I have a map dated 1895 that showes the exact location of Oskaloosa, Missouri. The court house records data-bank indicate the popluation of the city/town to be 414 in 1895. After that till 1990 there are no amounts in any of the columbs. Thanks for the help. If you find anything email me at tinman_2_54@yahoo.com. Chris

My husband & I have lived here in Oskaloosa, MO for 31 years, and we know exactly where the Venetian Brick Company used to be. It is no longer standing, however there are several bricks lying around, but I don't know if there are any with "Oskaloosa" there any more. There are several with Pittsburg, KS inscription on them. I did manage to get 1 with Oskaloosa on it.
