Has anyone been on the Catwalk in New Mexico? I went there with two friends years ago; would recommend it to anyone going to that area.

Mogollon is an interesting site as well.

I was there several years ago and camped just down the road. I had to take a detour the next day to Alpine AZ due to a fire around the Alma area.

We visit here often. Nice place for a day picnic. Mogollon is only a short drive away.

When in the Catwalk area, have you ever been to the site of Cooney and Clairmont? They are interesting also.

Been to both. And they are worth going to. I think I have some pic's here on this forum of Clairmont. Oh, here it is,

And I have panned for gold below the catwalk.;)

I looked at your pictures. I was told that is the "Old Waterman Place" and it is located on down the road east of Claremont (also spelled Clermont & Clairmont-don't know which is correct). I have attached pictures taken at different times of what I was told was Claremont. There is the ruins of another building behind the "dogtrot style" building shown and a corral. What do you think?

I went by some directions, from a old new mexico book that I found for clairemont. So I thought that was it. I have been to both spots. And I read that clairemont was a old gold town, and when I went to the one with my pictures, there was some old mine workings near by. Who knows for sure?? But is is neat up there at both places anyway. Thanks for your input 40FORDJIM.:)

I love this picture. The walkway has been rebuilt since I last went in there in the late 1970s, but the scenic beauty of this place remains as wonderful as ever.

I took an aluminum cot with me up into that stream, placed it in shallow water and had the best "cat-nap" of my life in the Catwalk... The sounds of the water will make anybody relaxed... Now that the Feds run the place, I bet there are a lot of restrictions (no naps) and I wonder if people can still swim in the pond areas?

Last thing I recall about this area, the water is always icy cold, even on a hot July day.

Thanks for the picture. I have a similar one showing the entrance on YouTube at the end of one of my Mogollon videos.

Here's a pano photo I took a few years ago at the Catwalk. You'll need Quicktime to view it properly. You can pan and zoom around to get a 360 view. You can choose a full-screen (may take a while to load but worth it) or a smaller version of the photo by clicking on the link.
