Nice pics. I think Utah would be my second pic for a place to live just for the scenery, if I could afford to live there that is.

Great pics & interesting history. How far into the mine did you actually go? What are those stalactites made of, are they ice or crystal?
Maybe if you'd had a Jeep Wrangler along, you wouldn't have had problems with the mud. :rolleyes:

We actually went back to where the adit had caved and made a shaft the the surface. Its a very old mine, with lots of history, but not so stable. Some college kids worked it in the early 70s and retrieved quite a bundle of gold, just with rudimentary skills, unfortunately, the mineral rights are indian owned and it cannot be claimed.
What you are seeing in there is some really large icicles, a good testament to interior temperature. It was about 70 outside of the adit.
oh, and the only things that got stuck on the trip was a Jeep and a Ford...:D
