Man that was along trip plus all the driving. As for Ghosttowns we hit:

Longstreet Mine
Tried to hit Longstreet (Jacks Place) but the road was too rough.
Old Page Place, Dugan Ranch, Tybo, Broken Hills, Quartz Mountain, Candelaria and I hit Teller in CO on the way out.
Also saw Lunar Crater and Easy Chair Crater.

After all that we headed to Bishop and rented ATV's and went up Silver Canyon to the Bristlecone Forest in the Inyo National Forest. We had the ATV's for 8 hours and explorered a lot of the roads up there. Most of the roads or what I would call trails were pretty rough, which made for fun riding.

Then onto Death Valley we went after spending the night in Independence at a place called Mt. Williamson Motel which you get your own cabin with air and a fresh homemade cooked breakfest all for $65.00 for two people.

Once in Death Valley we saw the Kilns, and found the Manson Ranch this time...however we still took a wrong turn and went through a tight spot that was so tight that ont he way out I pushed the plastic bumper in on my Explorer (good thing it is a lease and I tookt he extra insurance coverage from Ford). Plus not to mention the bashed in side steps. Goler wash is in okay shape, but there does seems to be a spot where it washed out and someone tossed some rocks in, I would of rather if they were not there (thats were the sidestep got wacked)...and too think in 2002-03 my friend and I did Goler Wash in a Mitsubishi Endevor.

After seeing the Manson Ranch we tried to exit out going East. After a bit we felt it would take too long at a crawl and who knows what lays ahead so we decided to turn back and go see the Kilns. On the way out from Ballarat some of the boys from China Lake decide to buzz us 4-5 times...lol Lets just say the jet was 50 feet or so off the ground...man-o-man that is a big no no, but then again their lifes must get boring living out there...LOL

From there we headed down to Mojave Preseve and Joshatree to Escondido. Then we went onto baja to Ensenada where we spent the night. Interesting city, typical mexican way of life...the room was okay, and cost $69 for the night for two. The main thing in a 3rd world country is to stay at places that are gated and have a gaurd.

On the way out of Baja we decided to take road 3 out to Tecate boarder crossing. We stopped at a winnery and tasted and bought some wine...2 bottles for $11.00. At Tecate boarder crossing there were no cars, so no waiting in line but we got pulled aside. Not a big deal and I can not blame them (two young guys...we fit the drug running profile)...but after 20 mins we were on our way back to Escondido and then back to Reno where we hit the Casino one night and then did some shooting the next day and played some poker. (I won...lol...and I am the one that never plays).

I named the pictures, now I will work on getting them up in the next few days.

You probably be disapointed with Candaleria...not much left there. My friend has a Ghost Town book that tells you about the towns and has pictures...It seems it was big at one time, but then there is the modern mining that covered over some of it. However you can hike up and see the remains of rock buildings ont he side of the mountain.

Broken Hill is just a mine, same with Quartz Mountain...however there are remains of building around...of course on ATV's you might be able to find more then what we did being in a vehicle.

Just watchout for the jackrabbits as they always seemed to run in front of my vehicle (probably saw 30-40 of them of the trip).

The photos on this site are an accurate and current representation of the more obvious remains at Candaleria. OJ

I know what you mean about those Jack Rabbits, I was up near Hawthorne and Aurora a month ago. we rode back from Lucky Boy Pass around 9pm to our base camp at the Elbow. **** jack rabbits were everywhere. It was like playing chicken with them on the trails. Anyways we actually had a jack rabbit cross our path in a hurry and followed right behind him was a coyote. came 4' from hitting both of them. absolutly no regard for us ATV'ers.

God tells me too. That's right, when he's not talking to Jerry Falwell or George Bush, we're shooting the poo. He can tell some great jokes, unfortunately none are clean enough to post here.

No, none of them looked too safe.
