Hello all.

I currently live in the Central New York area. I have a passion for abandoned buildings, towns, hospitals, mansions, asylums, monasteries, the works.

I have browsed a lot of the websites that offer things for the state of NY, but nothing really gives me any definitive sites and locations to try (and most importantly, if they are still there or have been demolished). I am very limited on time as well, and I am not too interested at this point in seeing foundations and simple remains. I want more abandoned buildings, etc.

Can anyone suggest any areas that may be within NY, NJ, PA, or OH that is well worth visiting? We would most likely be staying overnight in a hotel, so even a few areas close together within a few hours that is worth visiting and taking photographs of.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Exdeus, I don't know if it would be your cup of tea, but at one time there were quite a few "abandoned" resort hotels throughout the Catskills. It's been many moons since I was there so I can't give you specific directions to them but at one time they offered great exploration and photo opportunities. I do remember there being a few larger ones located around the areas of Catskill Park.
Good luck in your search. :)

Thank you Laura! I have seen a few of them on the web, but can't seem to find them again. I will continue looking. It would be interesting, but I would want to find a few of them together within a few hours, as it is at least a 2 to 3 hour drive out there.
