Well, I took a Day off 11-5-07 and decide to take a huge road trip that took 15 hours. I left Albuquerque and headed down to T or C to begin my journey.

Lets take a right and go the Cuchillo.....

Thanks for taking a trip with me......I have more trips planned, it's just a matter of getting time off work to do them.

I would like to thank you all for the information that I have gathered from this website. I look forward to picking everyones brains for knowledge for future trips.

How were you able to get inside Lake Valley? Every time we go there it is closed no matter what day of the week. We thought they had closed it for good. Years ago when I went there people were still living there. All of the other places I have been to dozens of times since I live in Truth or Consequences and know Sierra County forward and backward having gone down just about every single road public and private in the county to see the real ghost towns of Marion, Palomas Gap, Palomas Hot Springs, San Migel, Coalburg, Andrews, Gold Dust, Wicks, Lake Valley, Terra Blanca, Rattlesnake, Richmond, Percha City, Pittsburg, Grama, Cutter, Hermosa and La Petra. And have been to the semi-ghost towns of Cuchillo, Winston, Chloride, Montecello, Placitas, Hillsboro, Kingston and Caballo And although Sierra county has a lot of old towns, I have see more in Grant, Catron, Socorro, Dona Ana and Luna counties as well. But since Lake Valley became a state park they seem to always be closed.

Public Library Ghost Towner

I don't know who is saying I get my information from the public library, but if they want to come to T or C and look me up I will guide them to everyone of these places or let them look at the 5,000 photos I have on CD's I took of those towns. In fact I rarely ever go to the public library as I am too busy exploring these places with my friend who has the four wheel drive that takes me there.

That's just a title given your low post count. As your post count increases, your title changes. Nothing is meant by it, just a little humor added.

Josh, thanks are all due to you. That's a great series of photos. As it's likely going to be a while before I get to see Chloride and Mogollon, it's great to be taken there. Hope to see some more, soon.
(Have you seen Tuutuutango's Mogollon posts?)

Fabulous pictures! You really did a fantastic job.

So I take it none of these places require a high clearance vehicle or four wheel drive?

One other question-how do you get all your pictures to show up? When I post more than one picture, they appear as links that have to be clicked to view. Maybe our super moderator could shed light on this?

That's a great series of photos here, Josh. Makes me feel like I'm right there in the old towns. I especially like the contrast between the B&W and color shots. There aren't too many ghost towns like that in Florida (and no mountains), so this was a real sight to see.

That changes as your post count goes up. Look at everyone else's post count and you will see the progression all the way up to ghost town king or something like that.

How were you able to get inside Lake Valley? Every time we go there it is closed no matter what day of the week.

It has hours posted on the gate going into the town with the hours posted. unfotunately I can't remember the days which they are open. I do know they were open on my day off, which is Monday. I do remember the hours of operation which is 9am-4pm. I hope it helps.

Are you uploading them to the site direct, or linking them from another picture hosting site? If they are direct loaded, you have a limit of size & number. If you post them on another site (photobucket, webshots, etc) you can link the pictures to here. Links don't use or require as much space to load.

His were linked from Photobucket. You can right click the picture and it will show the pictures address.
