Josh, Super photos! Thanks so much for posting them. Hope you get more time off so we can see more. :)
What is the round, stone and adobe structure in Lincoln?

Josh, that's another great photo series. I really like the black and white shots. They give off the right "feel" to me.
BadBob sent me some "old west" links not too long ago and that led me to "discovering" the Lincoln County War. Intriguing bit of history.
I gotta say, I like how the early settlers got things done!
Unfortunately for me, GoogleEarths coverage of Lincoln is very poor - a lot of thick cloud obscuring details. It also appears to be a convergence for several satellie images, so it's disjointed.
You photos help solve the problem so, muchos gracias!

There have been several films made about Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County War. Two of the best in my opinion are the Young Guns movies, which give the view of John Tunstall's side and follow his regulators. They use plenty of "creative license" in the films but the two of them go from the beginning of the War all the way to The Kid's death.

Maybe the "No Scum Allowed" sign at the saloon in White Oaks was put there as a reference to Young Guns also?

Another great set of photos, making me want to get to Lincoln and White Oaks more than I already did!

MMW - I have to agree; the licence the writers of Young Guns allowed themselves is probably the biggest criticism of the movies.
They operated on the basis of a lot of assumed or prior knowledge, in my opinion, which makes them a bit inaccesible to people without an interest in the history.
Still, if that's the only criticim, in this "Western" starved world, it's something I can live with. I loved the 1st movie but have yet to see YG2. This has all the makings of a classic weekend "double header!"

Now that you mention it, there's probably something in that idea about the "no scum" sign. It's all too easy to imagine that memories are long, down there.

While I'm on that sort of idea, how seriously should one take Ike Clanton, from Tombstone?
I know he's a showman and makes a living out of perpetuating the stories, but some of the stuff on his website gives the feeling there's a bit less "show" and a lot more deep feeling.
He'd be fun to spend an evening with, I'm sure of that.

I have almost the same photos as I have been both places as well as Jacarilla. I moved from Lincoln County to here in 1991 and have been back many times. The photos however here are much nicer than mine as my camera only has 4.3 pixels.
Wish I could upload photos, but my computer will not allow it to happen.

Funny you guys are talking about that.......currently on AMC I just watched Young Guns and right out after they are playing YG II.

Walking Sticks......I'd like to meet up with you one of these days and see your photo's and pick your brain, if you don't mind.

Very nice shots yuguma. The first one, with the windmill, is really evocative.
All this talk of "Young Guns"! I hired both 1 & 2 out today, plus 5 other "oldies". Gonna have myself another weekend "double header" treat!

Been to both of them places several times as I used to live in Carrizozo many years ago and returned last summer for a visit. But the real ghost towns are where not a living soul is there and I have been to dozens of those and am going to two of them tomorrow.

How long ago were your great pictures taken? I, too, have been to both places but it was several years ago.
