: Kathy,

: Thanks. I have quite a few more names and locations, but most of them are related to Tombstone and Arizona, even though many of them are buried elsewhere. One notable "badman" I forgot from the last list is Clay Allison. He is buried on the grounds of the West Of The Pecos Museum in Pecos, TX. He died in 1887, drunk while riding a buckboard. He was thrown off the buckboard, and one of the wheels ran over his neck, breaking it.

Hello everyone; I'm from Las Vegas, NV and I really enjoy going to ghost towns. I have visited numous cemetaries in a lot of ghost towns. The ones that come to mind are Grafton, UT, Virginia City, NV and Belmont, NV. I am in search of anyone from my area that would like to get out on weekends and go ghost towning. There are still quite a few near Vegas that I would really enjoy seeing. I always take my digital camera to capture the ruins. I have a very thick Nevada Mining and Ghost Towns book and I read about the towns before I visit them. In fact, on this site I found the ranch that Charles Manson was living with his so called "family" and was captured after the Tate murders. I think it would be interesting to visit there, as well. I have a facination for Death Valley and I know that right now the flowers are blooming, but I don't enjoy going alone and it's not safe either. I thought this venue would be a good way to find others like myself who enjoys ghost towning. Leave me a message; I will answer all. Take care, Celene (aka, DesertLove) ;O)

How about the spot where western cowboy movie star Tom Mix died? There's a memorial at the spot on Hwy. 79 between Florence and Tucson, Az. He was also a good friend of Wyatt Earp in his Hollywood days. If I remember correctly, Wyatt was also a pallbearer at Tom's funeral. Anyway, it makes for a quick pit stop while travelling the green and beautiful desert this time of year.

Yeah. Tom Mix is interred at Forest Lawn with many other famous folks. The suitcase that did him in is enshrined in the Tom Mix Museum here in Dewey, Oklahoma. OJ

Celia "Mattie" Blaylock Earp actually died in the town of Pinal, Arizona and was buried in the Silver King/Pinal cemetery that was located near the Silver King-Pinal road. The original grave was vandalized but there is a marker not far from the old gravesite that has been erected.

The location of the grave is near the town of Superior, Arizona

Just wanted to add to dmichaelburns post, that the cemetery that Mattie Earp is buried in is also called the Guzman Cemetery by some of the locals in Superior.............

Yep - still there and still intact :D Except for the fact that no one knows for sure the exact burial site. It all happenned in the winter and they never actually made it to the top of the hill where the cemetary is located with the coffin. Speculation is that it is now buried in someone's back yard.
Here is a picture of the tombstone from on my site. http://www.rockymountainprofiles.com/images/Tombstones/Doc%20tombstone%204.JPG .

Great photo Rocky, We wonder if thats original stone or has it been replaced over the years One of Doc, relative lives in San Deigo We will ask around and see if that stone is the original.

My friend Lee Silva, the author of the book "Wyatt Earp the Cowtown Years" Vol. I might have the answer.

Thanks again Rocky, for that great clear photograph

I recieved this note from a gentleman in Utah. Can anyone help me answer his question? Read below. If you have an answer let me know and I will forward to him. I left his name and email off on purpose. THANKS

My name is XXXXX and I live in Cedar City, Utah about 70 miles from the ghost town of Frisco. While walking around Frisco over the President’s Day weekend I discovered the Frisco cemetery and am interested in obtaining more information about it. I’m President of a Catholic men’s group (Knights f Columbus) in Cedar City and am thinking that cleaning the cemetery up would make a good service project for our group, but would like more information on how many people are buried there and if possible their names. A plat of grave locations and names would be most helpful. I’ve contacted the Utah State Historical Society, but all they can tell me is that there is a cemetery, which I already know, and that they record 28 people buried there. Do you have any more specific information about the cemetery or know who may?

Rocky: As the husband of a good Mormon lady who specializes in Geneology, and who often locates folks in old cemeteries, I would refer your Frisco friend to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in SLC. One of the Churches projects has long been the location of old cemeteries and recordation of those buried there. OJ

You probably already know this but in case you don’t.

Johnny Behind the Deuce’s real name was Johnny O’Rourke. Supposedly, while in Tombstone Virgil Earp saved him from being hanged. Apparently he had committed a murder before coming to Tombstone. Some people suspected Johnny of killing John Ringo but there is no proof to support that theory. He was born in 1862 and was murdered in 1882. A short but violent life. He was killed in Sulphfur Springs Valley by one of John Ringo’s friends over a quarrel during a card game. I believe it was Pony Deal that shot him.

 Thanks for the listing. Say,who were Fred Dodge and Zwing Hunt?

Been to Boerne many times, but never to the cemetery.Hunt is probably buried in one of the San Antonio city cemeteries on the east side i assume.
John Wesley Hardin's wife Jane is buried in the Mound Creek area,i think in Asher cemetery. Not much left of Mound Creek anymore except a couple of cemeteries. no highway sign points the way to the town anymore. The old town of Rancho in the Guadalupe-Gonzales countyline area is gone too.I believe the Hardins had lived there for awhile.

Fred Dodge was a Wells Fargo agent in Tombstone during "the day." Working undercover he was an ally of the Earps.
Zwing Hunt was a cowboy & member of the Clantons/Curly Bill/ Ringo gang. Said by Billy Breckenridge (deputy sheriff) to be one of the worst. Originally from Texas he was wounded in the gunfight at the Chandler milk ranch near Tombstone & later died in an Apache attack near Galeyville after escaping custody & attempting to return to Texas. I belive he was buried where he died in the Chiricahua mts in AZ. He did have a brother Thomas.

I guess everyone knows that William Bonney (aka; Billy the Kid) is buried at Fort Sumner, NM. On my very 1st GT outing in '77 (yeah I'm old, so what) we were sold a map of NM. GT's which proved to be a BUM STEER! Anyway, we did find Old Ft. Sumner and the Kid's grave site which, was fenced-in 'cause so many people kept stealing his gravestone that the little museum on-site finally took action! They've got (or had) his last possessions displayed alongside the usual 2-headed calf stuff! Guns, boots, etc. An update on that place would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks All, Don.

Mattie died in Pinal City and was buried in the Pinal City Buriel Ground. There was a memorial to her but USFS just took it down and raked the grave site stating she was not famous, not historical and not important anyway! Anyway, she is still there and remembered by historians and friends alike!

A cool site! Kudo's to the guy who posted the pictures of the town and folks that lived there before it was burned, and the posted memories. I lived in Colorado back then and met a number of (so-called) hippies who had fixed up and maintained old cabins and such, but never a town like that. The interesting thing I found was that quite a few of them were into western history and preferred that frontier living thing: kerosene lamps, water boilers, and so on. A lot of the guys I knew were Vietnam vets. A bummer that a government agency has to destroy history.
