I recently went on a 4wd trip between Patagonia and Green Valley, Arizona to a place called Josephine Canyon. It's accessed by a very easy 4WD road called Bull Springs. Bull Springs takes you to the old adobe ruins of the Alto post office and by some other misc. unamed ruins.

Then, you can take a slightly harder side trip out and back to Josephine Canyon. This is a narrow canyon that has some larger concentrations of big trees (unusual for that area), lots of old mines and foundations. We found some cool remains at the Compardre Mine. There were tons of places to explore (we took one side road to what I called "Top of the World"). The Forest Service had dozed the very tip top of a mountain for what looks like a staging area in case of fire (my guess). What it offers is 360 degrees views of the surrounding area - very nice.

Here are a few pictures and links for more information (I'll try to upload more when I get a chance).

Cool find. I've spent a good bit of time exploring up around there but didn't have a 4X. Alto has a melancholy history. Love the old wood flume.

Chow hound looks happy.
