: Are you referring to the one in the San Rafael Swell in central Utah?

: I'm from that area...

: Local rumor has it that Butch Cassidy and Elsy Lay planned the Castlegate holdup there before moving on to bigger and better hiests with the Wild bunch (and relocating to the "new" robber's roost). The timeline suggests they couldn't have spent much time there at that makeshift cabin at all.

: It was spotted back in the early 80's by a low-flying plane, and since then, has been rummaged through by a number of locals who learned of its location. No caches/money were ever reported being found (a gun was rumored to be found, but more myths than fact exist about that).

: I've never been there myself. It is no longer accessible by driving near the base of a canyon leading to the cabin--(the BLM has designated the entire region a "wilderness study area") and if you wanted to get there, I figure it would be a 6 mile hike (one way) up and down steep canyons across some Grand Canyon-esque country.
