: North Rim or South Rim. There are several, some accessable with a passenger car on the North Rim. South rim, (4 and 8), take them to Jerome. It's t5ame, there's people it cooler this time of year. Take old 66, stop at the old schoolhouse at Goff's visit Casebier's muesuem. There are several real ghost towns within an hour or your route but real ghosts towns several that come to mind are risky for a 4 year old. Like within a hour or so of Goff's there is Old Ivanpah, Vanderbilt, Juan, Crescent tot he north but probably none of those would excite a the 4 year old. You know your 8 year old!
