: There is a semi-ghostown called Knights Ferry, located between Oakdale and Sonora California. A lot of the original buildings are still standing. and the town has quite a history. It was a supply point between Stockton and Sonora that supplied the Southern Mines. They have several activities each year. If you are ever in the area, stop by. Quite a few of the early settlers are buried in the cemetery.

: Knights Ferry is GREAT!!! A long covered bridge over the river. Excellent museum! Fishermen may catch Salmond when in season. A wonderful self-guided walking tour along the river and Tulloch Mill. Great history!!--Ulysses (sp) S. Grant visited here in 1854. His wife was the sister of the Dent brothers of Knights Ferry. Cars can nolonger drive over the covered bridge--foot traffic only. A great picnicing area next to bridge on south side. A great family tourist spot. One of the oldest if not the oldest General Stores in CA here. Check out the old jail!!! located between downtown section and the Covered bridge area. Also, the 1st weekend after Halloween is their annual "Pumpkin Roll" event. They roll pumpkins down Main Street for prizes, like trophies.
