: That's an interesting question, but may be difficult to answer, since you didn't specify whether you meant "true ghosts" (completely vacant), or not. There is some debate on places like Bodie, CA being considered a "true
: ghost", since rangers do actually live there to
: guard against vandals. Did you want top 10
: most popular? Most ghostly? Most photogenic?
: "..of all time"...could be places in the 15, 16 and 1700's that no longer exist? And what about Taos, NM & St. Augustine, FL., two of the oldest
: settlements in the US?
: Presuming any combination of the above to be
: acceptable I submit the following David Letter-
: man format: (Drum roll please) #10-Deadwood, SD; #9-Central City, CO; #8-Dodge City, KS; #7-Georgetown/Silver Plume, CO; #6-Leadville, CO; 5-Tombstone, AZ; #4-Virginia City, NV; #3-Virginia City, MT; #2-Bannack, MT; and #1-BODIE, CA.
: Hopefully, others will submit their opinions on this
: matter, then you can go from there.
: bob.

: Cerro Gordo, CA one of the best (evenif a bed & breakfast type set up now); Bodie is a given (even if Rangers do live there--thank GAWD!!!!);
: Aurora, NV for its cemetery!; Coloma, CA (where Marshall discovered gold in CA), but there are not many TRUE ghost towns around, like in Nev. and CO and Ariz. Most were vandalized and stripped by "collectors".

: I've read everyone's list and thought they were well thought out. However, I believe Mogollon, NM is in the top 10. Still far enough off the beaten path to remain unique!
