He seemed to think that someone from Willow Creek was responsible. I understand that people there own the group of talc mines on the eastern side of the Inyos (including the White Eagle, Gray Eagle, Doris Dee, and Snowflake talc mines). My friend thought that the locals didn’t like people parking and wandering around their claim at the Snowflake and were defending it.

: Much obliged fer the vote, but actually David Wright is THE answer man. His "Great Basin Research" contains the answers to vast mysteries, and is continuously building. My "data base" is limited to a number of ghost towns of the western 1/2 of the US; wild west history; and the historic trails.>>> There was a thread here about a year ago, some yahoo named Gerome, or some such, that had a claim up by Beveridge, and was warning people to stay away from there, or he would "take matters into his own hands." He said hikers were vandalizing his property, and stealing things from Beveridge. I told told him to notify the local law, but he had numerous excuses for that not being effective enough. It was hard to discern in his posts whether he was "crazy" or not, but if I had to guess, I'd say he was not. He was very angry though, and also very determined to keep people out of the area.
