Check Canadian Newsdisc at your local library for all newspaper stories dealinf with ghost towns. I found these recent BC ghost and threatened towns:
Cassiar, Tumbler Ridge, Gold River, Logan Lake, Masset, Ocean Falls, Port Hardy, Ucluelet, Kitimat, Tahsis, Lumby, the list goes on.
I am writing a sociological account of BC ghost towns. If you have found anything, please let me know!

Don't waste your time with the Alberta ghost town of Buffalo Jump. The train station is gone, the service station fell over, all that is left is the old arts and crafts store, and it is full of birds (dead and alive) bird poop, and garbage.
Bankhead is nice, and if I remember right has free camping near there, about a 1km walk away. It has been a few years though, so that may have changed.
