    : Two books that feature Old Hatchita: "Ghost Towns and Mining Camps of New Mexico" by James and Barbara Sherman and "New Mexico's Best Ghost Towns" by Philip Varney.

    : It is located on a dirt road of the highway between Animas and Columbus. There is also a "New Hatchita" just further east which was founded later so as to be closer to the railroad.
