Friends, we have lost a number of buildings in Pearl as over the winter the landowners and neighbors dozed and burned a number of the cabin remains that were left saying that they were dangerous and being used for keg parties. About the only thing left of the town are some mine enterances and tailing dumps and the Burkhart home that is being maintained by the family. Joe "Hardrock" Burkhart and his family were the last residents in the town. He was the caretaker for the Gem State Consolidated mine and a prospector unitl he passed away. He also was a caretaker for Idaho Power line. It is a shame that the cabins are gone, but I didn't find out until a story in the local paper.
