    Default Fishing Boat

An old school mate recently bought a fishing boat, and asked me if I'd be interested in hiring on as apprentice baiter.
Since I have no life, I'm considering it, but need to know how long it takes to become Master. I know it's 2 seasons for assistant baiter, and 5 seasons for #2 baiter.

You can shave one year off each of those with a degree from the University of Texas. Heck, for that matter, if you want to go to Oklahoma State, they offer a Masters in Baiting in Summer School. OJ

That's very interesting OJ, thank you. I'd love to attend OSU summer school with all the beach bunnies. Texas is too big fer me. I prefer the coziness of OK. But isn't there is a BIG difference between a Masters in Baiting, and the position I hope to one day attain? I believe experience is the key here. Boomer Sooners yeah.

Maybe you could take an online course, BB. Sounds like a chance to be out standing in your field!

What, the Community College and Lube, Oil & Tire Center of Bakersfield doesn't offer a class?

I thought people only went to school in Texas to become jerk offs, which is similar to but gets paid less than a Master Baiter? Unless they go to A&M where they can get an engineers degree in JO, then they can make the big bucks.

Great Suggestion Goat, but everytime I Google "Online Fishing Boat Baiter degree, Master", all I get is porn.?

GarB: Neither Bakersfield Jr. College nor Cal State Bakersfield offer anything close. They want me to take "Off-Shore engineer, Inside Passage, Glacier Calving"
The tire, lube, and oil center do have classes, but the tuition and prerequisites are much too high.

Further suggestions or input re: this matter, are always appreciated. I must let the Captain know by June 1, or will have to wait until the next baiter is swept overboard, or is fired for spending too much time in the head.

BB, OJ, Gary B, Goat..........All I can tell you is that a small college in Polson on Flathead Lake in my old home state of Montana offers a 2 week class in Baiting 101. I'm not sure of the name of the college, but I believe it is Pat Mawheeny Junior College. The course is taught by Professor Jack Meoff, and is well worth the $150 entrance fee. My old neighbor Mike Hunt graduated from there in 1996 and has done very well. Of course, he's from Ok. , so that's a given..... .................

Thanks Flat...that sounds ideal..price is right, and I hear that lake is a pretty site.
Now I think I read somewhere that Prof Meoff let a few students get out of hand, and as a result, the Chancellor put a letter of censure in his folder.
I also knew a Michael Hunt. Last I heard of him, he is now a sheila, and a mighty pretty one at that. Calls herself Michelle Hunt now. Mick fer short.

I think you're thinking of when they fired Prof. Harry K. Nucles for stealing from the school's collection bank? They we're peeved at him anyway since he kept writing off hand lotion as an entertainment expense for the yearly budget review. I hear he's working for a human waste recycling company where they make styrofoam food packaging products? Or was it tongue depressors? I forget, but he always had a firm hand shake. Got to admire a man with a good hand shake.

That's right GB, I remember that. The hand lotion should have been a hardship expense, not entertainment. I know cos the IRS got me on that one too.
I see where the former profs are now working together in Bumfrick, CA. making probes. Or was it at Gillum & Bone Lumber Co. in Bonher, ID? Ever since their wedding, it's hard to keep up with them.
