And that it is. That bar has about 1,218 oz of pure silver in it, which makes the silver worth about $23,140 today. Considering the selling price of $37,000, that's a 60% premium.

    Not bad.

Here's another old map showing the wagon road between Tip Top and Yuma.
Not sure of the date of this one, though.

Here's a small part of it:

The whole map (3 MB) can be downloaded here.

That's definitely a cool early AZ map with the roads to and from Tip Top.

Now here for your consideration is a 1936 article from the Mining Journal on the Tip Top mine Arizona. Notice the diagram of the flotation mill and the photo of same at Tip Top. The mill's concrete foundations are still there and prominent today.

That mine sure has had one incredible and diverse history. What with Indians, ore prices, pioneers, prospectors, promoters, smelters, and scams, it surely greatly influenced the lives of many men.

And unlike most others, there is an enormous amount of recorded history and artifacts left for us to explore, admire, and dream about.

    Cool beans.

And I asked my wife about that silver bar...maybe for a Christmas present..."maybe next year" was the best she could do.
    Oh, well.
