We made it to Tip Top this weekend, though by the time we got there we had spent most of the day going the long way round (or one might say, the wrong way round, but that's not what I'd say)

We came in from the South, past Lake Pleasant, and then through Columbia and Gold Hill. Then once we hit Cottonwood Creek to the West of Tip Top (at the junction near a stable and windmill), we went even further West and North to an abandoned cabin which must have been here: 34.116681,-112.287349 There was a house with a bedframe and old cabinets, a shed by the road, an outhouse, and a corral and windmill. I should make a new thread about that site, as I'd like to know more about it.

But we did make it back down to Cottonwood Creek, and heading back towards the highway, we drove right through Tip Top. We were less than a mile from it when we hit Cottonwood Creek the first time.

Bring your Topos, my Mama used to say...

I saw my first Gila Monster not far past Tip Top, heading back towards Table Mesa Road.

Several years ago, I took a couple of friends to Tip Top. They brought their climbing gear and went down into the main shaft under the headframe! They hit water around 175 feet. They said around 100 ft there where tunnels going off to both sides. One was caved in and the other went pretty far. Overall they where underground for over an hour and they saw a 6 foot tall ore bucket!Name: DSC00451.jpg
