Question Cleator & Crown King AZ.

Between 1937 & 1940 my grandparents, parents, brother and other assorted relatives lived in Cleator and Crown King.
My uncle owned a gold mine and went broke. I have an original post card of the snow covered chapel in Crown King which my mother told me we lived in until my father and aunt built a house across the street from the Cleator post office. I have a fall trip planned for that area.

    Cool

What a great area in which to be confused about where to go and what to do next. Have a great trip. OJ

Larry, Crown King is a lovely area to visit. it should be especially nice in the fall...do remember to take lots of water, as the temps could still be pretty hot depending on when you go. Also, parts of your trip will be fairly remote, sometimes cell phones don't work, so be sure your vehicle is in good condition with plenty of gas.
Here's some information about the area you're going to.

You might be able to find the specific mine your uncle had by entering names and searching this site.

    Good luck, have fun!

After seeing the pictures of Crown King and Cleator and knowing my mother lived there four years I can understand why she was irritable all the time.

If you go down this rather bad road from Crown King which will require high clearance you'll come upon the remains of [url=http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/az/orobelle.html] Oro Belle[/ur]

There are many sites in this area.
