    Question Belcherville, Texas

My brother and myself visited Belcherville, Texas back in 1992 with my sister and a friend of hers and then again just yesterday (9-23-06).

A few of the buildings we saw in '92 had collapsed, but others were standing as we had seen them then (however in much worse shape!) We took lots of pictures this time around, but unfortunately I only have about 5 surviving polaroids from the first time we went out there. Has anyone else been out there before? Its right off HWY 82 just east of Ringgold and north of Bowie. About 34 people still live in the vicinity of the original buildings too!

BTW, the pictures above are the ones we shot yesterday not the '92 images as you probably already have guessed.

Any idea how long it would take to get to Belcherville from Denton?

    Great pics, by the way.

According to Yahoo Maps it is a 74 mile drive from Denton which takes you through Gainsville and then west on Hwy 82. According to it 1 hour and 19 minutes. An easy afternoon outing!

    Default Private Property?

Is this ghosttown on private property? Me and my husband were wanting to go metal detecting there. It sounds like a great place to see also. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

The areas we visited didn't have any signs posted and weren't fenced off. I think one of the homes we visited years before is now on private property and we couldn't find it when we went this last time.

    Good luck!
