    Default Thin is in!

Today I explored the area behind SASCO, in Arizona for clues and remnants of the people that once lived near the smelter.

Nothing really exciting to report (I'll leave that to Joel!) but I couldn't help wishing I had my old Samurai on a very narrow trail up there!

I knew you'd find some way to use that picture against me someday!

Well, you found a Palo Verde tree. Anything else going on out there?

I found a trail that went above the smelter to view where I THOUGHT there were homes in the old days. I glassed the area for a good 30 minutes and never found a trace. Its left of the photo.

Then I tried going around the back and nearly got stuck in a wash.

Finally, I followed a trail by the current cemetary and marked private property for several miles and almost got lost in the myriad of trails there. There were a few maybees, but I finally called it quits.

Of course, all that means is you will go there and find and intact abandoned general store with food on the shelves and a model T in the back.

Grrrrrr. Oh, well, I'll keep trying.

The picture below is of the wall above the smelter. I was able to get a great view of the area to the left of the picture, and the last trail I was on was straight ahead in the picture.

What does SASCO stand for? Is there a town nearby; if so what's the name?
It's not ASARCO is it? American Smelting and Refining Co?

Southern Arizona Smelting Company. It's in Southern Pinal County.
