    Default Old Camp Rucker, Arizona

    Suttlers store ruin
    Guard house ruin
    Officers Quarters
    View from Officers Quarters

Chiricahua mountains, (Cheery cows) Cochise county...one of the staging points for the last of the Indian wars. The Apaches made their final surrender in 1886, after having about 140 of their number persued by 5,000 U S Army troops for years in & out of mexico.

Named in honor of Lt. John A
Rucker who drowned there in a flash flood while attempting to rescue fellow officer Lt. Austin Henley from rising waters.

Later a cattle ranch using the "OCR" brand. Very classy.

Very nice ruins! To be honest, I have no idea how the Army ever got the Chiricahua Apaches out of there. That range is a fortress!

Great stuff. Yes, if you've ever hiked up in there, those mountains are very defendable.

Yeah, the Apaches led the Army on a merry ol' chase. That last band with Geronimo held out against incredible odds.
