    Default Mt Lemon Prison Camp

    What information do you guys know about the prison camp on the way up Mt lemon and where could I find some history on what they did how they lived and so on? Thanks for your help Tucson Arizona of course.

    The Catalina Highway was built by convict labor in the '30's. Never have visited the Guard's or Convict's Camps. Would assume that they didn't worry about escapes much in those days. It was a long walk to Tucson.

    I was living in Tucson back in 1998 and went up Mt Lemmon several times. I don't remember anything about convict camps. I would like to hear more too.

    My search revealed the prison camp was taken down and completely removed in the 1970s, and the term "Mt. Lemmon prison camp" now refers to a hiking/mountain climbing area. Supposedly, nothing remains.

    Yes, they were, and I was wrong about anything left. I found this picture of the ruins online:

    brian10x that's just a small part of the ruins they are all over from an old resivior to foundations all over the place. I even think they were doing some mining as well
