Default Ax Men: History Channel program filmed near ghost town

This a heads up about Ax Men, a History Channel program (documentary-drama) featuring the working lives of loggers in NW Oregon.

Some of the filming (it was filmed in fall/winter 2007) takes place near old logging ghost towns of Oregon. Specifically, Timber (semi-ghost) Westtimber (semi-ghost) and Cochran (ghost town site.)

Pay special attention to the "Round Top Road" crew. Round-Top Road is very close to the site of Cochran.

It seems that Melvin's crew used Cochran Road to access some of the 2nd growth timber in the area, and tonight's episode (from what I can gather from the previews) will show the washout of Cochran Road.

I tried to get to the ghost town on March 30th, but it was still washed-out. The great storm of Dec 3-5th is featured in the documentary, the one that innundated places like Vernonia and Mist. It's very interesting to me as I will be posting the ghost town information of places around here.

Yup, I was right. The Ax Men episode featured tonight (6/1/08) shows the Cochran Road washout. They cover it alot better than my little photograph. That chasm is more than 75 feet wide and 25 feet deep. I took that photo on March 31st, I don't know if it's fixed yet.
