: Isnt LA scary enough for you?

: The only ghost town your going to find within 2 hours of LA is at Knotts Berry farm!

: But if you're willing to drive a little farther there are some as close as the Mojave desert area!

: Pick up the book "Southern California's Best Ghost Towns by Philip Varney" for directions and pictures!

    : HAVE FUN!

: I'm not sure if Rhyolite is 2 hrs from LA but it is a very interesting town. Some of the machinery used in the Gold Mines still exists, rusting of course. There is the famouse house built of many colored bottles, curios available. The town itself is in pretty good shape. You can still see where the banks, stores, hotels, jail etc were. Up on the hill you can see the entrance to the mines in the Bull Frog area.It was a thriving community, three RR, three newspapers, two saloons. My grandfather owned one of the saloons.
