    Default Montgomery, Colorado

Hey guys! Been busy with Real Life stuff to visit in awhile, thought I'd start posting some of my work!

About 2 months ago I went up to Montgomery to check out the old mill and mining operations. Very cool site, not much left of the town as it was flooded when the Montgomery reservoir was built in 1957 but up the mountain from the townsite there's TONS left including a very intact mill from the 1860's. Highly recommended if you happen to be in the area. It's off of Highway 9 a few miles north of Alma. I've got some slides that I need to sort and scan, but here's some B&W photos for now! There's more on my website in my signature.

Wow, Boots, that hits the spot! You do nice work in black and white.
Is this site 2WD accessible, by any chance?

Wow! Very nice shots of an old ruin. Gold, silver, lead operation?
B&W adds a nice touch to it all!

It was a gold mining operation. In my blog listed in my sig I have a brief history of the location- the GT main site has some good info too!

The mill is very 2WD accessible. It's within a quarter-mile of Montgomery Reservoir, which is a popular fishing site in the area. I was able to ride my motorcycle to within 30 metres of the mill, and there's a 4wd trail that goes right past the structure. The actual mining operations are feet-only, it's a pretty steep climb from 11,000 feet to 13,000 over a few miles, but if you have water, time and energy just follow the tram towers up the mountain and you'l find some pretty neat stuff.
