    Post Tinton, South Dakota

In the Black Hills of South Dakota, I visited a town called Tinton. It was one of the best conditioned towns I have been in. The bank still had the vault, most of the houses where in ok condition. One house had a nice fireplace and other still had a car in the car port. Tinton is the home of Potate Creek Johnny. His calm to fame was finding the largest gold nugget in the Black Hills. A replica of the nugget can be found in a museum in Rapid City, SD.
It has been 20 years since I've been there. The current condition of the town is unknown to me.
There are many ghost towns and old mining camps in the Black Hills.
Deadwood, SD is still alive and well but does have alot to see.
Next time I'll write down what I write then organize it.

This post caught my eye as I have been out to the Black Hills many times and would now like to venture out a bit to find some ghost towns in this area, from the look of a sat image of this town I was curious what the roads were like that far out? As usual in this area its certainly a winding type of road network but any more info on this would be great.

    Default Tinton

Tinton was kind of hard to find since we had no map and just a general idea of where we were going, but it was worth it. The town isn't in very good condition, I'm guesing because of vandalism and age, but there are still quite a few buildings standing and it is still pretty intact all things condsidered. The company that owns it has a no trespassing sign posted so you have to look throught the fence to see it. Email me if you would like some pictures from a couple of weeks ago.
