Default Well, it ain't exactally a ghost town but it is a ghost sumthin'.

While prowling around the coast of Maine looking fer something that looked like a ghost town I found this and that was about as close as I got to a town. Oh well, I'd better stick to places I know like the western states.

    Default Awsome photo!!!

Ghost town or not, that is one awsome photo, any maritime buffs who could shed some light as to what type of ships these to majestic ladies are and there purpose should do so.
With two hulks you would think there should be some type of long forgotten dock around the vacinity.
Can i have permission to down load the photo for my wall?

What we see here are the two four-masted cargo schooners Hesper and Luther Little that had been left sitting at the town of Wiscasset, Maine since 1932.

Vandalism and weather finally took its toll, toppling the masts of the Little in 1998, and the town subsequently had the two wooden hulks removed.

More info on these two old ladies, and three other abandoned Maine schooners can be found here:

Thanks for the notes and thanks to Fairlane for the info. I took this so long ago I couldn't remember just where it was.
