Default Sutro, Nevada.....and ore cars galore.

Old Uncle Norman wanted some ore car pictures so here ya go. This was Sutro, Nevada. Tons of stuff lying around in the old days as you can see. A short version of the tunnel story is that it provided drainage and access to the Comstock mines under Virginia City. There's much more to the story but I'll leave that to those who wanna Google it.

    Default Nice!

It looks like you took those pictures while everybody was at lunch.

Hey , you wanted ore cars so I dug some up. Betcha can't find a string of cars like this any more, especially out in the open and abandoned. Took these in 1964.

WOW Don, these are your best yet! It's been said here a lot, but I'm so glad you documented these places and times. When you took these pics, I was a three year old boy living in Reno. A few years later, my Dad, Uncle and I would explore these areas while 4-wheeling. It's been a fuzzy memory in my head, then "POW" I click on this thread and it's all new again.

    Thanks!

Your pictures bring back some great memories for me.Back about 1970 someone opened a saloon in one of the old buildings. It was crude all they sold was beer from a big ice filled tub. The place for a short time became the"in"place for the Reno casino crowd.I asked my wife to marry me there.Even though she said yes we had a good time.
