: John, There are a number of Ghost Towns throughout Oregon. Sites I have found interesting to photograph are Sumpter, Bourne, Granite, Greenhorn, Whitney, and Cornacopia all in Eastern Oregon. Sites in Central Oregon are Shaniko, Antelope, Richland, Horse Heaven, Lone Rock, Ashwood and Hardman. I don't know of any famous ghost stories except for Joe Bush a fictitious character invented by the workers on the Sumpter Dredge to satisfy the curious happenings and noises that go bump in the night on the old dredge. e-mail me at photopro@eoni.com for more information. Hope I have been a help to you. Stephen, Ghosttown Photographer.
