YUP, BNSF dash-9's. The first unit is in the "swoosh" paint scheme and the trailing units are the Heritage-2 units.

National Trails (Old Route 66) closely follows the BNSF tracks from Victorville to Needles. It also follows the tracks through a portion of the Cajon Pass from Kenwood to Cajon Station.

Thanks NJ, man that's a lot to see and do in the interests of matrimonial harmony.

The Do Drop Inn in Lenwood looks worse every time I drive by there. There used to be a drive-in theater a few hundred yards southwest of it, and the screen was still standing into the early 1980s. I have relatives who live right by there, and I've been going there since the late 1960s.

A belated thanks for sharing the photos.

Really great photos. There is a book on Route 66 in the latest Edward R.Hamilton Booksellers catalog I got.It shows old photos of various buildings, and the update photos of these places. It states the book as been expanded and I plan to buy it,since it's only 19.99 plus shipping and handling.I'll have to find out the title and author's name for you all.
I've never been Route 66 ,but sure would love to take the trip,at least go through the Texas part anyways, since I'm already here.
