    Default Delamar, Nevada (2009)

I've searched through the entire forums for any possibility of a duplicate post, but didn't find any. Good descriptions of the town are available on the main Ghosttowns.com site (http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/nv/delamar.html), as well as at Legends of America (http://www.legendsofamerica.com/NV-Delamar.html), and the best one of all in David F. Myrick's outstanding book "Railroads of Nevada & Eastern California, Vol 2 - The Southern Roads" (http://books.google.com/books?id=a8U...=0CBkQ6AEwBjgy).

I could spend weeks here, and still not see everything...this place is extensive. Everywhere you walk & drive, there are stone building ruins & foundations; and I mean EVERYWHERE!

So I thought I'd post my most recent photos of Delamar in this thread, which date from a couple of years ago up to a few days ago. Most of these aren't duplicates of anything available elsewhere; anytime I do a search for Delamar photos, I keep running across the same angles & duplicate shots...no offense to anyone else, there is so much to photograph there, and I'm sure that some folks with the "Really Good Stuff" probably aren't willing to share them, as they are afraid others will then ruin the experience for others (or dismantle/remove the cool items).

So here are some small humble offerings to the Ghost Town Gods, in hopes that future trips to Delamar will continue to be fruitful & plentiful.

    --------------------------------------

First, some historical photos I've found over time, to give some perspective to the condition & extensiveness of the original town site:

    Now for some recent photos:

The extensive mill ruins can be easily spotted in the center of the photo; look at the tremendous amount of rock walls!

The main entry road is in the middle of the picture, running to the left of the photo:

This sucker is BIG! It stands at least 4-1/2 feet tall at its tallest point as it lies there. There aren't many of these left around:

Looking east towards the mountain; the far tailings pile is from the April Fool Mine mill:

A nearby mine adit, with a deep vertical shaft at the entrance; this may be the Jim Crow, but I can't confirm it:

    --------------------------------------

As if the vertical shaft at the mine entrance wasn't hairy enough, just inside the adit is another vertical shaft with a log placed over it:

    --------------------------------------

    I can't see the bottom:

Needless to say, this is where I stopped & exited.

Moving up to the "Glory Hole" at the top of the area, there is a stone cabin in great condition near some old mine adits & shafts:

Nearby is a mine adit, with numerous cave-ins where the Glory Hole was later worked (some of them obviously accessed the area in & under the Glory Hole, but they are all now blocked off by rock falls). Here is a winze (vertical shaft inside an adit) with a winch foundation, and you can still see the grease stains all over the wooden beam foundation:
