    Default Gps

Here's the GPS set-up I used in my old truck. I just got a Jeep so I don't have as much room as I did but I could find anything with this set-up.

Ran the Garmin into the laptop using National Geo' Topo Mapping software. Also had MS Streets and Trips as backup with their GPS unit running into the laptop at the same time. Plus the big screen for old eyes was great! I'm now using a Garmin Nuvi 265W.

My laptop would have killed that inverter within 5 minutes... Nice Dell! How do you keep it on the seat while off-roading?

That's what makes the little woman indispensable...in my case, anyway!

That wasn't and inverter, just a Y cord as I was charging the phone then and needed an extra plug in. The dell come with a car adapter so it will run off 12 volts.

If I'm going on a really rough road I'll use the seatbelt or straps I made for it. I still haven't tried it in the Jeep and if I can download topo maps for the Nuvi, which Garmin says I can, I probably won't unless I'm planning on staying overnight and want to look at pix I've taken and then it will stay in the case until I need it.

The Nuvi is a lot smaller and takes up a whole lot less room!
