    Default Oro Belle AZ

I've been scanning again, here are some oldie but goodie shots I took in March 1974 of the Oro Belle mine and town area.

There were still a lot of the mill ruins standing:

This is the Tiger Gold Company Store. You could still go upstairs if you dared:

    Lots of stuff laying around:

I have a few more to add later on. These were taken on my trusty Kodak 126 and using color film, which I could just barely afford at the time.

Nice pics, Steve. Were you one to take the dare to go upstairs? Really like the one of the old mill ruins...but they are all good as well. Can't wait to see more!

Oro Belle is on the backside of Crown King, in Yavapai County, somewhere south of Prescott roughly. It was a fair sized town with a mill and the tunneling up above. I read there were 8 tunnels, the longest being 1000-ft or so. This is the mill I think:

The other side of the company store:

There's a similar view on the GT section of this website.

Some private houses still standing back then. I don't think anything is left above ground these days:

On the way in I remember finding a small iron fenced cemetery and some headstones. I hope its still there, I'd like to revisit this place again. It's a nice pretty little canyon just a wee bit under the evergreens. Anyone been there lately?
