Smile Where is Ash Springs, Arizona?

I am a new member living in Safford, Graham County, Arizona and am a local historian. Just finished first local history book - Graham County Murders, Hangings, Homicides and Lynchings 1878-Present. I find many references to those leaving Solomonville going east to Duncan and stopping overnight at Ash Springs. There is an Ash Peak between Solomon and Duncan and an Ash Springs northeast of Clifton but the two are far apart and a traveler would not seem to go north to Ash Springs above Clifton and then turn south to reach Duncan. Was there an Ash Springs at Ash Peak 125 years ago?
