Default Blackhawk Mine, White Tank Mts, AZ

Hey all, I know it's been awhile since I posted here. My back has been bothering me more and now my knee is messed up so bad I can barely get in the Jeep. Just haven't felt much like shootin' pix so just been hangin' out spending money on the Jeep.

Recently received a PM from The1within0 about info on mines in the White Tank Mts area. Really had not explored that area much so I went on Google Earth to look around. I had found a reference to a downed airliner so I when out to see if it was still there. It wasn't but I did come across the Blackhawk Mine. There are a whole bunch of shafts in the area and a tunnel or two. Did not go in any as the weather is warming up and didn't want to play with any snakes but I did get a bunch of pix.

    Enjoy.

N 33,26.150 W122,37.658 I10 to Miller Rd. North to Tonopah-Salome Hwy, (dirt road), and head west. Will be on the south side of the road.

Thanks for the pics - loved looking at them.

I had forgotten about that plane crash on the White Tanks.

Thanks for the shots, really enjoyed that. It's a nice spring with all the winter rain we had. I see they "improved" the mine warning sign, wish they'd stop doing that.

Thank for finding that, NICE SITE!

I'm not sure about an airplane crash around there other then pictures of airplanes in Google Earth that were caught while taking the image. I do know of a F-84 crash site. I believe it's at N 33,10.367 by W 112,28.108. I am told you can go down W Komake Rd. to about N33, 11.470 by W112, 28.459, and go down that dirt path to a wash and then around the mountain to the F-84 site.

Thanks for the post. Is the mine within the park boundries? Or is it on the backside (west)?

The Mines are not within the White Tanks Park, but are within BLM boundaries, according to http://www.geocommunicator.gov/blmMap/Map.jsp

Here we go - I think I found where we're talking about:

    33.435643,-112.627939
    or
    +33 26' 8.31", -112 37' 40.58"

I might head out there this weekend - didn't have a trip planned or anything keeping me home, so it might be a good weekend for a morning trip out there.

As to the plane crash/parts around there, I found this on a wreckchasing message board.
