Talking I got to Lost Horse Mine!

Went to Joshua Tree today and after a nice long hike in 95 degree weather, I reached the mine and took some nice pics. I'll be posting the pics sometime tomorrow.

That's a pretty foolish thing to do - hiking in extreme heat.
You could have easily wound up like these guys.
    Be careful out there!

That is in excellent condition. I guess it's far enough away from the main stream traffic that the vandals have not taken the time or energy to go back in there. Great shots.

Looks great, love that last shot. It is indeed very intact.

And be careful in that heat out there kids. I can't believe the article JoeZona posted. They're STILL trying! Idiots!

    Nice photos!

I haven't been to the Lost Horse Mine. One of the reasons was that I was under the impression that the "good stuff" was sealed off by a chain link fence. I thought that I had read somewhere that it was even difficult to get decent photos. Apparently that is not the case?

There is a chain link fence unfortunately. But nothing a little crawling under cant fix. There are 2 large holes that go under the fence. The mine is too far and hard for the rangers to care. If you plan on going the actually mill, careful! There are many loose boards and can break if you step on them wrong.

Hmmmm, maybe that's why they put a fence around it.

Actually its all the graffiti on it that caused the fence to go up. There are HUGE amounts of grafitti everywhere on the mill.

Great pictures, thanks! I didn't see any graffiti anywhere??? How long of a hike is it...we've been wanting to go but have been put off by the reports of the chain link fence.
