That's a pretty fun amusement park. I used to take my kids there when we lived in So Cal.

Did you take the train ride? That was one of our favorites.

I did get on the train. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about the town.

Another fun activity at Calico is late in the fall, they have a "Ghost Hunt", with pumpkin carving and costume contests, ghost stories, trick-or-treating, etc. My kids really liked that, too.

It really is a fun park!

Be honest now. Darin told me that it was the trick-or-treating that you really liked because you could dress up like a cowboy and shoot off your cap guns.

LOL Yep, Darin tried to dress up like one of the ladies of the evening, but his bald head gave him away every time LOL And he was always jealous because my gun was bigger than his

    I'm speechless. Did he wear a mini-skirt?

Calico is nice, I'm glad they rebuilt a lot of the missing buildings as accurately as they could. That section of the Mojave is ripe with ghost towns all over the place. Kelso is another good one out in the Mohave National Preserve that has a really restored rail depot that the Parks Service uses. Route 66 has even more on the Amboy cutoff with Siberia, Bagdad, Amboy, Chambless, Cadiz, Cadiz Summit, Danby, Essex, Fenner, Goffs and Jaba all in about 70 mile section. Amboy is probably one of the best towns on Route 66 period and the service station just reopened with a small museum.
