    Default Ghosttown Clubs?

We have clubs for cars, prospectors, etc ad infinitum, but do we have any clubs for ghosttowners? I think it would be excellent if we had a club dedicated to the preservation and exploring of ghost towns. I know many prospecting clubs actually own some private land they prospect on, but what about a club dedicated to purchasing and preserving old ghost towns? I am not sure if there are enough of us ghosttowners to create such as club, but I wanted to see what others thought of the idea.

ANY such org dedicated to preserving gt's, etc, is an outstanding idea (IMO), Bob.

Yeah. Cool idea. I hear there used to be caravan excursions that the members would organize on this site long ago. It would be a good start.

FYI I tried to start a thread for Preservation. Perhaps some of you can join in that thread and something can get rolling. Search the forum for Preservation and it should take you to the link. Contribute what other groups are attempting to accomplish and help preserve our history. Here is the link to the Vulture Mine project.

http://www.savevulturemine.org -- The Vulture Mine Preservation and Restoration Association's mission is to save the 1863 Vulture Gold Mine/Vulture City site and buildings. The buildings straddle private and adjoining public land. VMPRA's goal is to purchase the property that is privately owned and, in parallel while funds are being raised for the purchase, to preserve and manage the buildings that are on BLM land. We have done an extensive amount of research and are also working on the interpretive element of the project.

You guys in NM might want to get behind Steins, NM just to be aware of the fate of the town with the murder of Larry Link. (towns owner) I am positive that the property will go to the family, however that raises all kind of possibilities positive and negative.

Will it be reopened for the public or sold.

It would pay to watch what unfolds.

Good point. I was just there in March. I would hate to see it destroyed. Here are some photos from march. http://www.rockymountainprofiles.com/steins_nm.htm
