I am not sure if there are enough of us ghosttowners to create such as club, but I wanted to see what others thought of the idea.
For those in Colorado, especially the Denver metro area--the Ghost Town Club of Colorado has been around since 1957. And they do field trips. Their web site is: http://ghosttownclub.org

I would love to have one in Florida. The only problem is that I'm up in Jacksonville and most of my ghost towning is done when I travel to the southern half of the state.

Not specifically ghost towns but there are several groups in Utah that visit ghost towns regularly.

ExpeditionUtah: All things outdoors in Utah, heavily focused on historical aspects and vehicle based exploration
Utah Gold Prospectors Association: Just as the name implies
    NUTS Club: Metal detector club
Utah Treasure Club: Metal detecting/screening, etc. Lots of trips to ghost towns
Mojave Underground: Mine history and exploration

Additionally there are a good number of 4WD and photography clubs that visit Utah ghost towns on a regular basis.

Ghost Towns in FL are all over. Unfortunately, many have gone the way of the bulldozer. Fort Ogden downtown area was literally blown away by a hurricane. I went down to get updated pics and literally drove right through town and never saw anything. I had to go back and start searching.

There are several in the Central FL area. Some are sections of larger cities but still have ruins or structures that date back to the town. Some towns were sawmill towns that played out and moved on. Sumica still has some structures of the sawmill but Polk County will not let you in without official escort. You can see some pictures I took on the internet.

Centralia can be found but is on protected land so no souvieners (sp?) or metal detectors. Hefty fines if caught.

Check out the myriad of others on the old GT site. Many are still there. Be glad to help ya if you need it.
