Default Spent the night in Bannack Montana

The ghost town we stayed in. We camped on the bank of the little river than runs behind the town, that is where the gold was found in 1862.
The yellow and black rooms are inside of the hotel, there are about 50 buildings left standing in the town.
And it was not turned into a tourist trap, it is left just like it was when people left it.

Awesome photos there CJ. The closest my wife and I got was Virginia City/Nevada City where we stayed the night. Funny thing is...is we never even saw Bannack. After seeing the pics., I think we may need to go back. Thanks for sharing!!!

Nice shootin' Calam. That's a great old place. I'm impressed at how intact it is & how much is left.

What keeps the ghouls from stripping it bare?

It is amazing, people are very respectful of the place, it seems to demand it of you.
It is managed by a Bannack Group and the St. of Montana, it is a real gem and people really care about it. I was so thrilled to be able to go to it and the fact that you can go into all the houses and buildings by yourselves blew me away.

We took a 2 week road trip from Washington to The Badlands of South Dakota, and Bannack, Montana was by far the most interesting place we went to.
It is well worth the side trip and if you can stay a night or two it is magical. There are no lights anywhere and only the sounds of coyotes and other critters in the night.
