Nice write up,and great pictures. Thanks for sharing!
Very nice photos and narrative - Thanks for posting.
I hope I'm doing this right. I just started using this.
Wilkeson as in just south of carbonado?
Could you give some directions for me to go there? I'm starting a "Ghost town adventure" book and I would love to explore this one. Also, that cage over the mining entrance; Was that metal or wood?
P.S. Great pictures!
Wilkeson is actually North of Carbonado.
Take Highway 410 to Bonney Lake. From there go South East to Wilkeson on Highway 165.
Wilkeson is between Bonney Lake and Carbonado. Hope this helps!!!
And welcome to the forum.
Once in Wilkeson, drive east on Railroad Avenue past the Wilkeson School and ovens, both of which are interesting sites of their own accord, and keep a lookout for some large ruins in the woods on the right side of the road. Stop there, and if you proceed to the river behind the ruins (which are likely old loading bins) you'll be able to see the mine entrance.
Good luck, and welcome,

Easily distracted.
Current distraction: Railroad Depots
That was my mistake. I know where Wilkeson is. Would you be able to direct me to the skookum slope mine? What part of the woods is it in? I'm hoping to go there and explore at the end of this month.
Thank you. =)

Ms. Adventure, find it? I haven't but have a better idea where to look.
Question to anyone (anyone out there?) how many feet from the coke ovens is the mine?
Thanks!
