    Default Sutro, NV

I've read posts from 2008 and 2009 that say the Sutro Tunnel is on private property and not open for public access.

How close can you get to the tunnel before the "private property" signs show up? Can you get close enough to see the tunnel entrance?

Well we were there quite some time ago, but IIRC the entrance is not too far off of US 50. There was a lot of overgrowth, and don't recall seeing any private property signs either.

The entrance was boarded up solid, but you could still easily make out the original name painted (engraved) above the tunnel. I got a couple shots of it, along with some of nearby Dayton, but don't know where they are right now.

Here's some shots of the Sutro area. I'm in the (long) process of rebuilding my whole website so I don't much up yet but one of these days I'll have it completed. http://www.donwinslow.net/GT-Nevada.html

Nice pics, as always D. Can't wait to see your site when it's finished.

You ever feel like re-visiting these places for then/now shoots?

I am not too far from there, might try to make it out there next weekend and check out the current status.

    Jumpin' Jehoshaphat! Don's back!

Seeing those photos gives me a strange mixture of gratitude and melancholy. I'm both thankful that you preserved the images of what the ghost towns used to look like and sad that I can't see them in their former glory.

    Keep up the good work!
