    Default Cochise County Ghost Ranch

I was driving down a dirt road with a barbed wire fence along the right of way. I noticed an opening with a cable and lock across it. The road beyond didn't look like it was traveled on for decades, so as iron to a magnet I park and start walking. After about a mile, my rewards were great, as I came upon this beauty.

The only signs of other visitors are, of course, los illeagales. I had to clean up after them for interior shots.

I have never seen a windmill so close to a dwelling. Much as I like windmills, I would think the metallic sounds would be adverse to a good nights rest.

This ranch, off high Lonesome Rd., is just a few miles east of Bisbee, in the Sulpher Springs Valley.

The door is covered by the tail fin of the windmill.

Here's a shout out to my Cuz, SD, in Washington St.

Adobe walls, old school lath and plaster interiors. I guess the 1920's.

The only thing missing are old rusting trucks.

I remember my Uncle Don's farm in Michigan 60 years ago and the windmill was right outside the kitchen. It pumped water into a concrete trough where the milk cans were at so the milk would stay cold until picked up by a dairy. There was also a short hand pump inside on the counter by the kitchen sink. While I'm at it, I'll add they had a hand crank telephone and the phone number was Lacy 29 !! The Good Ol' Days.........
